129 Miner, Henry 739 I’ve titled this image “Gazing Over a Sea of Pines” and I took it as I approached Black Elk Peak in the Black Hills of South Dakota. I utilized my Samsung S25 Ultra to capture the photo with no filters applied beyond anything my phone itself may have done. The image features the stone lookout tower atop Black Elk Peak looking out over everything below, being the rest of the state itself. Only the clouds above can surmount the height of this mountainous wonder. Blue Palo Alto Plants and Things
129 Miner, Henry 740 This image is simply called “Sunset in the Valley” and I captured it in Makoshika State Park, Montana, on my Samsung S25 Ultra, applying no filters beyond what my phone itself may apply. The image is quite profound with the yellows of the clouds above, seemingly stealing such colors from the valley below as it is cast into shadow. A lone tree stands to the left of the image, hunkering down for the night, and awaiting the coming dawn. Blue Palo Alto Plants and Things
129 Miner, Henry 741 I’ve referred to this photo as “A Clash Above Torrents” and I captured it at the south unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota. I took advantage of my Samsung S25 Ultra to capture the image, but utilized no further filters beyond what may be applied by the phone itself. The primary clash of the image occurs in the sky with an impending stormy tempest roaring on and chasing out the calm blue skies of the left of the image. Below, a torrential river flows indecisively between the sides of the two titans, before disappearing to the bottom right of the image. Blue State Fair Palo Alto Plants and Things
129 Miner, Henry 742 This image has the title of “Red Bluffs Snuff a Sun” and I captured it at Blue Mounds State Park in Minnesota with my Samsung S25 Ultra, although I applied no further filters to enhance the image beyond what my phone may have done on its own. The name seems rather crass, although it matches the unmoving nature of the jagged quartzite as the sun falls helplessly beneath it. The sun’s corona becomes visible in this state, fighting desperately to throw out its light into the shadowed valley below. Blue Palo Alto Plants and Things
129 Miner, Henry 743 This photo is called “A Mountain’s Defiance of Mountainous Skies” and I captured it on Needles Highway in Custer State Park, South Dakota. For this image, my Samsung S25 Ultra came in handy, snapping the photo in excellent quality, with no adjustments made other than what my phone may have applied automatically. The image’s mountain appears to rise up against the sky above, defying not just the crushing weight of gravity, but its obstruction from these heights. The skies, just as grandiose do not relent, brewing an army of storm clouds for its own sake. Blue Palo Alto Plants and Things
129 Miner, Henry 744 I’ve named my final image “A Prideful Lineage” and I captured it in our great state’s capitol in East Des Moines, Iowa. I utilized my Samsung S25 Ultra for the photo, and applied no filters beyond what the phone may do automatically. The image looks up hopefully into Iowa’s golden dome showcasing the brilliant colors and mosaics handcrafted by the dedicated and passionate over a century ago. Truly, the statues, sculptures, and gold leaves speak not just to the wealth of our state, but its great foundations and even better future. Blue Palo Alto Plants and Things
129 Miner, Henry 752 I call this image “A Night Sky’s Stellar Display” and I captured it just outside of Ruthven, Iowa, with my Samsung S25 Ultra, featuring no filters beyond what my phone may have applied on its own. The moon shines brilliantly in the image, shooting out streaks of light much like the ejecta rays on its lunar surface. However, stars shine in the sky too, highlighted by the changing colors of the sky at the bottom of the image. Blue Palo Alto Plants and Things
